Testimonials

LN

“My sister and l have been looking after mum for the past few years, but as her health deteriorated, this was increasingly becoming difficult for us to manage. We handed over all her care calls to Daystar Care Services and we are happy with the way they look after our mum. Thank so much for your dedication, support, patience and understanding. Our mum is happy and so are we!”

"What would we do without them? My carers are all wonderful. Giving me my meals - I am sure if it were not for that I probably would miss half my meals! They keep a close eye on all my medication. They are always cheerful which brightens up my day. Thank you to all of them."

FAQ

We understand how stressful it can be organising care for yourself or a loved one. That’s why we’ll aim to keep things as simple and straight-forward as possible when it comes to costs. We are:

  • Upfront and transparent about our home care costs. There are no hidden fees or lengthy notice periods.
  • Able to accept direct payments. If you’re receiving funding through social services and have opted for direct payments, we’re able to accept top-ups to these payments.

Depending on your needs, home care costs will vary. Visiting care is charged at an hourly rate with live-in care, or “24-hour care“, quoted on either a daily rate for short-term respite or weekly rate for ongoing care. We can discuss the level of care that is right for you and whether the cost of home care is financially sustainable for you and your family.

Although the majority of our families are paying for their care privately, there may be the opportunity for you to access home care funding from either your Local Authority or Clinical Commissioning Group. In these cases, we work with the funding body to get the support you need in place and give you a better quality of life at home.

Our offices are normally open from 8.00am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Aside from this, we operate an out-of-hours emergency service which is manned 24 hours, 7 days a week. The number for your out-of-hours service can be provided for your reassurance, with someone at the end of the telephone line to assist with any emergencies about your care.

We will send you an invoice every fortnight or monthly depending on the agreed terms and conditions of the contract. If you wish to pay by standing, order (to save you from having to remember to write out a cheque) just let us know.

We use a call monitoring system to ensure that our carers stay for the full call.  After every visit, the care worker will write the details of activities undertaken during the visit in the care record (which is kept in the client’s home).

Every member of the Daystar Care Services team has been through a rigorous vetting procedure before they start working with us. In addition, all staff will always be in uniform and carry a personalised identification card that shows their name, photograph, and signature.

Once we have established exactly what you want on each visit, we will work to that list. We are not able to give injections or change sterile dressings. Also, we cannot carry out tasks that are likely to cause risk to either the person we provide care to or to the Daystar Care Services  Care worker. Tasks will be agreed upon with you in advance. Any changes to the plan can be discussed with the Care Manager.

We agree a ‘Personalised Care Plan’ which details exactly what you have instructed us to do. This then becomes the work list for each day.  As part of our ongoing and unique relationship with pharmacies, we are also able to assist or administer your medication.

Care plans frequently evolve and we check regularly to ensure that the care we are providing is appropriate.
